Critique Questions
1) What is your intent with the work?
My intention with my work was to create variations of the same landscape by using symphonic composition and Atmospheric perspective to explore color, space and movement.
2) How well does the completed work meet your intentions?
My work meets my intentions in the way of the consistent color use. The color palette I chose to bring them together unifies them. By doing these studies I became more structurally aware of different spaces. The variation of color defines the depth within the space.
3) What about the work didn't hit the mark, or meet your intentions?
Towards the end of these paintings I found myself stepping away from detail and focusing more on how colors reacts to each other.
4) What is the next work's focus?
I made a large painting that is more emotionally experiential instead of referenced. Dealing with how color creates movement. Black and white come to create a structural element that creates the composition. After defining the space, I mixed color on the surface to create movement in the atmosphere of the space.

How do I create space with color?
In Progress
Project title and description (no more than 250 words). What do you want to do/make, and what materials and processes will you use. What will be the final outcome (number of works, scale of work)?
I want to make abstract landscapes using color, memory, photo reference, and acrylic paint on panel. I will make three paintings that are each 24x24.
Project Intention (no more than 250 words): What is the background of this project--What previous work led up to it? What questions led up to it? What experiences led up to it? What is your intention and how will your project reflect that intention?
I made a painting using a picture I had taken as a reference to begin. Working off of this photo I chose my colors and composition. Then I worked from my memory and the way I felt about that place. First I layered flat plains of color to define the composition. After I reacted emotionally and went to adding consistent dots. The dots became too repetitive so I broke the composition up with white gesso on top of the landscape. The top and the bottom then became to act like a reflection of each other because of the optical color mixing of the dots. My intention in my paintings is to portray beauty using symmetry, proportion and harmony. By layering textures there will be an emphasis on surface qualities and sense of touch.
