Jenny Saville Exhibition
I have been looking at pictures of Jenny Saville's work since I have been in college. The pictures do not do her work justice. They are giant in size, giving you a different experience when you stand in front of them. This painting is my favorite of the exhibition because of the movement of color and paint strokes. In all of her portraits, she paints a certain realistic eye. Except in this one in particular the eyes are made in a cool blue which give an icy emotional feeling. All of the colors she uses compliment the composition beautifully. Although I do not understand the emotion, the composition and scale accentuate the emotional feeling.
Dali Museum
This museum was awesome. You walk into the gift shop and to the spiral staircase. Upstairs, the collections included small drawings on paper that were meticulous and detailed. There was a black and white video playing that included automobiles. The self portraits were the most intriguing because they showed himself in different styles, and I thought his mustache was funny. His painting were the best of all the collections. From his still lives to his twisted landscapes, his work was interesting in the sense that there was always something that made you say "how did he do that?" The landscapes were eery in the way he painted and the colors he chose. Along with having a beautiful landscape, the for ground would be filled with images of his imagination. That are detailed and juxtapose the background. These obscure objects reminded me of something else. This aspect makes Dali's paintings interesting to the eye and mind.

Work On Paper
Walter Matthews, Cody Berringer, Matt Coombs
All the pieces in this exhibition were on paper, very contemporary and varied in material and scale.
My favorite pieces in the exhibition was the drawing of Cody's of the over sized nail. I enjoyed the movement and absent marks in the painting. It focused on a portrait that showed the personal space. The painting allowed your eye to walk into the space. Using white as the absent space and resting place for the eye. The white space in the drawing was also successful because the nail was full of mark making this piece was called "Nail" it was made of graphite, charcoal on paper. I enjoyed the way the drawing was horizontal on two pieces of paper but I think that it should have been more intention. A space in between the pieces would have created a complimenting void. Overall this exhibition was well put together considering it included three people.
Zimoun Exhibition
The exhibition had 3 rooms that were white. To enter each of them you had to enter wide set blinds. In the second room the ping pong balls were not moving. They were on a timer, so when I walked into the space they would "strum" on the cardboard. These instillation rooms were full of white walls and white floors. The installations were usually cardboard. In these white rooms there were ultra violet lights. Focusing your eye on the silver or brown installation, or blind your eyes at times. The thing that is interesting is how he made these installations with sound in mind. The senses are important factors in experiencing art and the artist was considerate of all aspects. I think the strongest part of these installations are the way organized his boxes in perfect formations.
